Visitor Restrictions

As part of our continuous effort to follow the CDPH and CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19 and our commitment to patient safety and inclusive care, we will follow their recommendations to allow the safe visitation of our patients by their family members.

These Guidelines are effective as of May 4, 2022.

All Nursing Units

Allow Two visitors at a time (both COVID and non COVID patients)
Visitor(s) must be 14 years old or older (with adult supervision if a minor)
Visitation hours: 9:00AM to 7:00PM only
Visitors NO LONGER have to prove that they have been fully vaccinated for Covid-19, as per the latest CDPH AFL guidance released on 09/2022.
Visitors NO LONGER have to provide a Negative COVID19 Test result for admittance.
Visitors are required to provide proof of identification.

Subacute Unit

All visitors, regardless of their vaccination status, must wear a well-fitting mask with good filtration (N95, KF94, KN95, or surgical masks are preferred over cloth facing coverings) and perform hand hygiene upon entry and in all common areas in the facility
If person protective equipment (PPE) is required for contact with the resident due to quarantine or COVID-19 positive isolation status (including fully vaccinated visitors), it must be donned and doffed according to instruction by HCP
Facilities should limit visitor movement in the facility, regardless of the visitor's vaccination status; for example, visitors should not walk around the hallways of the facility and should go directly to and from the resident's room or designated visitation area

Screening Process:
Negative PCR test within 2 days or FDA-approved point of care antigen test within 1 day prior to entry
Visitors who visit for multiple consecutive days are required to show proof of negative test every third day
Visitors who show documents of recovery from COVID-19 infection within 90 days (positive antigen or PCR test within the last 90 days but no within the last 10 days) are exempt from the above testing requirement
All antigen tests, whether CLIA waived or over the counter, should be done in the presence of a facility staff member to verify the result belongs to that visitor and is conducted on the appropriate date prior to entry.

NICU

Healthy Parents may visit at the same time in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) by appointment ONLY. Parents will be allowed to visit their baby at the same time or separately if a time slot is available.
Negative COVID test results within 72 hours are requested to visit NICU patients

SCREENING PROCESS: All arriving patients & visitors
The hospital is screening patients and visitors at all hospital entrances. Upon arrival, designated staff will ask a series of questions to identify travel status and if patients and visitors are experiencing flu-like (COVID-19) symptoms
Proof COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided, and date last dose administered
Documentation of a negative SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) PCR or antigen test within 72 hours before each visit from a licensed laboratory. (Home / Self Collection test results will not be accepted).

In addition to these guidelines, the following units have additional guidelines to follow:

Surgery

One visitor is permitted for the following:
The patient is taken into pre-op (provided physical distancing can be accomplished)
When the patient is in recovery and preparing for discharge
Visitors may use waiting rooms and maintain physical distance between individuals and groups and wear appropriate facial covering at all times
All Visitors, regardless of their vaccination status, must be screened for fever and COVID-19 symptoms and / or exposure within the prior 14 days to another person with COVID-19; if a visitor has COVID-19 symptoms or has been in close contact with a confirmed positive case, they must reschedule their visit, regardless of their vaccination status.

ICU

Allow 1 visitor per patient in the unit for a maximum 30 minutes on the unit
Visitation hours: 9:00AM - 7:00PM
Visitors may visit for ONE time over a 24-hour period for all non-COVID patients
Due to the acuity of the patients on the unit, visitation is subject to be modified by the nursing staff on the unit for reasonable cause.
Due to end-of-life concerns, this visitation policy may be modified at the discretion of the nursing staff to accommodate for patient and family needs/requests

BMC

Visitors allowed for both Yellow and Green Zone
Allow one visitor per patient in the unit
Indoor visitors should provide proof that they are up to date with COVID-19 vaccines (fully vaccinated and boosted if eligible) or they must have proof of a negative COVID-19 test result collected within 1 day of visit if antigen test or collected within 2 days of visit if PCR or other molecular test)
Indoor visitors must wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for the zone of the resident they are visiting
Visitation hours: 2:00PM - 3:00PM and 8:00PM - 9:00PM daily
Visitors must make an appointment with the unit secretary at least a day in advance
Visitation will occur in the dining room or in the patio area and must maintain physical distance for both yellow and green zone patients. Only 5 groups of visitors are allowed in the dining area at one time
Green Zone patients may have visitors in group room or patio area if visitor has a negative antigen test within 24 hours of visitation or a negative PCR test within 48 hours of visitation, and have result stapled with BMC visitor list

Labor & Delivery / Post-Partum

ONLY one spouse / partner / designated support person is allowed during the entire hospital stay and will be allow to stay in the patient's room after visiting hours. May be allowed re-entry privileges
Spouse / partner / designated support person must have a NEGATIVE COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the scheduled admission / visitation
Only 1 (designated) visitor in L&D
Once patient delivers and transfer to T5, the designated plus 1 additional visitor PER DAY will be allowed
